Making Natural Raw Food Safer

Chow for Now is excited to introduce a new safety feature in our raw dog food manufacturing process. Our commitment has always been to produce the best natural raw dog food possible. When we developed our recipe we chose to go raw because cooking the food would remove important nutrients. We chose to go frozen so that we didn’t need to add chemical preservatives.

We know that there are concerns about pathogens in raw meat based diets for dogs. We have heard from our clients that they were worried about family members getting kissed by the dog or other unintended contact with the raw food.

We have found a safety process that will allow us to keep our product natural and raw without sacrificing, taste, texture and nutritional value. HPP (High Pressure Processing) kills not only all pathogens (e-coli, salmonella, listera) but also destroys mold, mildew and yeast. Unlike heat-based pasteurization, HPP leaves the nutritional value of the food intact. Watch the video below to learn more about how HPP works.
